Over the years designQ was primarily focused on graphic design, print, video production and photography. Whilst still remaining commited to all these services, recently our focus has shifted to web design and development. Therefore our website portfolio isn't as extensive as some of the other areas.

CASE STUDY

Brief:
To create an interactive CD Rom for presentation purposes. The project is about Greek culture, its history and modern day Greeks living in Australia. It needs an introduction, with music that represents Greece in an abstract and modern way. The finished product needs to have a simple navigation style, and the overall design needs to hint traditional Greek culture, yet still be contemporary in design. Video footage also needs to be integrated into the piece and the CD Rom needs to be cross platform for mac and pc.

Process:
After initial ideas and concepts being thrown around, we sat down and planned out the navigation structure. Once the client was satisfied with the navigation, a colour scheme was chosen along with appropriate music.

From here on, we began our research that included the study of Greek architecture, paintings and culture in general. Through this research we were able to gain a better understanding of the feel and design we needed to create in order for the project to be a success. The first step was to create the introduction. After a few initial concepts, we came up with a piece that the client was very happy with. Following the creation of the introduction, a basic design took form with all the navigation (buttons/links) in place. The graphics were then created for each of the four sections in the project, along with the integration of the captured video footage. Finally, we tested the project on different platforms.

Outcome:
The result was a multimedia piece that was very successfull in answering all aspects of the brief.
